Motion Related to Constant: Displacement, Velocity, and Acceleration
These graphs represent the motion of the three objects. |
In this movie, you see an object with a constant displacement, a similar object with a constant velocity, and a similar object with a constant acceleration (experiencing a constant net force).
- Obviously the object with a constant displacement does not move at all.
- The object with a constant velocity has the same change in displacement every second. This can be seen by the equal spacings between each image of the red ball.
- The object with the constant acceleration has an increasing change in displacement as a result of the constantly increasing velocity. This can be seen by the increasingly increasing (word repeated intentionally) spaces between each image of the blue ball.
