Variable Resistor - visible workings

I like to have at least one of these around to demonstrate resistivity of a wire. The simple reliable design lets students see that the tap simply changes the length of wire. Useful for a variety of lab demonstrations, these rheostats provide a variable resistance in electrical circuits. Features include a wire winding on a vitreous enameled tube with cast-aluminum end supports to hold the tube. Aluminum sliding contact carriage, mounted on the slide bar, carries a copper contact as resistance and current rating stamped on the upper surface of the contact carriage. Includes three binding posts, one at each end of the copper winding and the other at one end of the slide bar, for electrical connections Diameter of coil: 5cm. Unit measures 35cm x 13cm.
